Old walls, new life
This was a teachers' room in the 1960 seminary dormitory, and it still carries the proportions of that era: an honest rectangle, a big window, daylight that stays late into the summer night. The renovation in 2025 kept the calm and replaced everything you touch — beds, textiles, the shower room.
There is no TV, and that is a decision, not an omission. Kemijärvi is Finland's northernmost town; the view and the silence do more than a screen would. A refrigerator and a kettle cover the small hours, and the floor's shared kitchen is a short walk down the corridor when you want to cook properly.

Good to know
- Digital detox by design
- There is no TV in the rooms — on purpose. The quiet is the point: books, long views and Lapland silence.
- No lift in the house
- The 1960 dormitory has stairs only. Ground-floor room 105 is fully accessible — no thresholds and a spacious shower and toilet room. Ask for it when booking if steps are a concern.
- Housekeeping
- Rooms are not serviced during short stays. On stays of six nights or more, a mid-stay clean is included halfway through.

- Welcome in rooms 101 and 102 for a 25 € fee. An unregistered pet in any other room carries a 200 € cleaning charge.
- Smoking
- The whole house is smoke-free. Smoking indoors carries a 500 € cleaning fee.
- Keys
- A lost key means relocking the door — a 300 € charge. The keyless entry code can't be lost.
Your room covers the basics with a fridge and kettle; the floor's fully equipped shared kitchen covers everything else. Cook a real dinner, meet the house.
A free evening sauna is part of every stay: women 19:00–20:00, men 20:00–21:00, daily. Want it to yourselves? Book the sauna privately for 50 € an hour.
