Academy Hotel Kemijärvi has one meeting and event space: the restaurant hall, in the neighbouring building a three-minute walk from the hotel. It is rented separately and booked in advance through sales@insidervisit.com — the rental includes technical equipment, Wi-Fi, furniture and parking, and catering is agreed and priced separately for each group. The hotel has 44 rooms in use and 120 beds, so a whole group stays under one roof.

Group stays
Room for the whole group
Tour operators and adult groups are the guests this house knows best.
- 44 rooms · 120 beds
- 30 Standard, 11 Superior and 3 Family rooms — enough for the whole group in one house instead of two.
- A kitchen on every floor
- The shared kitchens are free for guests, so a group can cook and eat together rather than scatter into town.
- Free parking at the door
- Parking in the hotel yard is free and needs no reservation. Block heater posts are 10 € a day.
This house was built in 1960 to hold people who came here to learn. It was the Kemijärvi teachers' seminary dormitory, then the vocational school's, and it was renovated and refurnished as a hotel in 2025. Groups are not an awkward fit here — they are what the building was drawn for.
Tour operators and adult groups are the guests we know best. In practice that means the things groups actually need: 120 beds under one roof, a shared kitchen on every floor, the cellar sauna, and safaris that leave from the main door instead of from a car park across town. Luggage porterage and storage cover the arrival and departure days, and winter clothing can be rented at the hotel.
The honest limits, said before you book rather than found on arrival: the hall is next door, a three-minute walk outdoors. The 1960 building has stairs and no lift, with ground-floor room 105 the fully accessible one. And the café-restaurant and bar run in the winter season, November to March — ask sales what is possible outside it.
